Just about every CPA/Affilaite marketer uses landing pages once they get to a certain status, unless they have yet to understand how to use the landing pages successfully. Many people confuse the use of landing pages and just add in content from their website, but a landing page is utilized to focus on the sale of a product/service which leads the visitor to the sales page of the website to purchase that product/service.
A landing page is used to give the visitors two choices; which happen to be to buy or to leave if they don't like what they see. You don't want to distract your visitors from what you are trying to sell or there would be no point to the landing page. Avoid making the mistake of giving your visitors too many options, stick to a buy or leave and you'll see better conversions.
Follow these steps for your next landing page project, you will see a major difference in your previous landing pages compared to the one you make following these steps:
Get a clean new domain with a new IP address and start fresh.
Create a headline that matches your page without keyword stuffing since that doesn't do anything but make your page look spammy.
Avoid using several different fonts and colors, stick to one as it looks unprofessional to have several different fonts and colors going on. Ensure everything is readable or no one will purchase your products/services because they can't see what you are offering.
Don't let the search engines crawl the landing pages. Have them located in a separate folder that isn't crawled by the spiders.
Have all the links easy to find for the prospect which have to do with ordering the product or gaining additional information about the product. Don't distract with non-relevant links.
Use the standard colors; which are:
a. Unvisited link - underline in blue
b. Active link - when the users mouse hovers the link in red
c. Visited link - purple
Have a color scheme that matches the product or service that you are selling. The color scheme should be chosen with a lot of thought because this can make or break a sale.
Don't believe what people say about not having white space, it is okay to have white space, instead of filling every area of your landing page making it look junky.
Avoid having a horizontal scroll bar. Format the page width to be the size of the screen without scrolling and keep all important information above the fold (before having the scroll down).
Have a page theme for the sale of your product/service that matches them.
Don't stress focus on features but on benefits. People prefer to receive benefits over features.
Have a clear call to action that is visible right away. Many marketers are known for not doing this correctly and loosing a lot of sales because no one knows what the call to action is.
Instead of someone having to register to get all the information get them to register for a preview of information.
Lastly, do a test with friends, family, anyone that you feel might like to see what you've created, but do a three second test. Have them look at the page for three seconds and turn off the monitor. In that three seconds they should be able to know what your product/service is and if they liked the page or not. If they can?t tell you then your landing page is too confusing and needs some work. If they can, congratulations you've made a great landing page.
If you want to win and have a successful landing page the above steps should be able to get you there. Having a solid landing page can truly make a difference, so take your time and make everything look professional and right to the point.
